Spring Showcase Coming up Last Weekend of April

Excitement is building. The Nanoose Bay Studio Tour Spring Showcase is coming up the last weekend of April, and Notch Hill Art will be there.

The Spring Showcase is our region’s premier art event of the year. We will kick it off the evening of Friday, April 26, with an opening reception. This invitation-only reception features music and catering, and a first chance to see all the artwork. The Nanoose Bay Lions also will be there supporting this community event. Contact me to inquire about getting an invitation.

The show will be open all day on Saturday and Sunday (April 27 & 28) — no invitations necessary. See the poster below for details.

I will be showing a selection of my paintings, including some new works.

Fairwinds Art Night

On February 23, 2019, the Fairwinds Golf Club hosted an Art Night and invited residents of of the Fairwinds community, a neighbourhood in Nanoose Bay on Vancouver Island. Artists and artisans belonging to the Nanoose Bay Studio Tour group set up 12 different displays featuring work we have produced in our studios. There was a wide variety of art on display, including paintings, jewellery, pottery, blown glass, wood-turned objects, mixed media objects, photography, glass sculptures, and stained glass.

Our art group is now getting ready for the new season. Our next event is the Spring Showcase on the weekend of April 27 and 28. This Saturday-Sunday event is open to everyone! Come out to Nanoose Place and support some wonderful artists!

A Great Turnout for Thanksgiving Show Last Weekend

I had a great turnout for the Nanoose Bay Thanksgiving Studio Tour last weekend. More than 100 people came by the studio. Saturday was bright and sunny, and 60 people dropped by on Saturday alone.

A few days prior to the tour, I installed my new Notch Hill Art sign. No one had difficulty finding the studio

It was fun meeting so many people who were interested in art. I had planned to spend time painting in the studio while waiting for guests to arrive. However, the the studio was so busy that there wasn’t much time to paint.

However, I did start a new painting.

This photo shows that I have laid out the big shapes. I have used thinned oll paint to do a wash. As you can see, I am using a reference photo. I took this photo on a recent hike in the Nanoose Bay area.

If you have questions about my painting process, leave me a comment and I will respond.

Thanksgiving Studio Tour Next Weekend

October 6, &, and 8 are the dates for the next studio art tour. Twenty of the Nanoose Bay Studio Tour artists will be represented, along with some guest artists. This is an opportunity for art lovers to drive from one art studio to another to view artists’ galleries along with the spaces where they create their art.

I will have my Notch Hill Art studio and gallery open each day from 10 to 4. I look forward to meeting people and showing my work. I have begun painting some of the beautiful landscapes of Vancouver Island, and hope to be working on a new painting during the days of the tour.
